Buy-In Party. Love planning or hosting parties? Then, we need YOUR help to host a buy-in party.  Buy-in parties are an incredibly fun way to raise money for Field Elementary School!

Field families will have the opportunity to sign up to attend a buy-in party at Field Follies on April 13th at 7:00 PM.

Parties can be hosted anytime at the hosts’ home or at any venue for any number of guests at any admission fee…it’s all up to the hosts.  And, the theme could be something as easy as a wine night for the ladies, a poker night for the guys, or an end-of-year pool party for the kiddos. Anything goes! See the attached document for more information on how it works.

If you’d like to host a party please provide the following information in an email to Melanie Canale at mabokina@yahoo.com by Friday, March 22nd:

Your Help is Needed and Appreciated – Mrs. Thomas would like to share a few reminders about drop off and pick up. "As you have observed it is very busy on Emroy. I understand this can be frustrating and I am asking for your help and support in making arrival and dismissal run as smoothly as possible. Please adhere to the following:

  • Pull all the way forward, as far as you can.
  • Do not exit your car. We cannot have cars parked in front blocking the drop-off and pick-up area.
  • Do not stay parked in the drop-off area while your child is walking in the building. Traffic needs to continue moving.
  • Do not enter the parking lot and never park in front of the parking lot drivewayto wait for students.
  • Load children as quickly as possible and pull out to allow the next family to pick up their child."

Hello Field Falcons!!

Important dates/announcements for the upcoming weeks:

All-Day Kindergarten Committee

The D205 All-Day Kindergarten Committee will begin meeting in January, and the District is looking for parent volunteers to serve on the committee.  The committee will have three sub-committees:  Early Implementation, Tuition, and Curriculum.  Volunteers would help support the work in the areas of early implementation and determining the appropriate fee, if any, for participation in the program.  The District cannot guarantee that all interested parties will be able to participate, but it is committed to ensuring balanced representation from across the District.  If a person is not selected, the District has indicated that there will be multiple additional opportunities for parent and community involvement throughout the next five years to support implementation of the Master Facilities Plan.

The District is anticipating several large group and small group meetings running from January through approximately April.  An opening meeting will be held on an evening in January with follow up dates to be determined by the representative groups that evening.

If you are interested in being considered, please email Dr. Moyer at dmoyer@elmhurst205.org by Monday, January 7.

Lost and Found

Please take a look at the lost and found area inside the main doors of the school.  There are many coats, hats, thermoses, lunch boxes, etc.

Wrapping Paper Tubes

As the holidays get closer and presents start to be wrapped, please save your tubes.  They can be dropped at 155 N Clinton.

There was much discussion regarding the Field PTA endorsing the referendum.  The Field PTA Executive Committee met prior to the general membership PTA meeting and felt it was best to take a position of neutrality on endorsement of the referendum, and to instead act as a source for information.  Upon further discussion at the general membership meeting, and even more discussion amongst the executive committee, and after review of the IL and Field PTA Bylaws, we have decided that we will hold a special meeting on Thursday, September 27th at 7pm in the Field Library.  We will be voting to decide if the Field PTA will endorse the D205 referendum.  If the Field PTA votes to endorse, our approval and support will be publicized and used as a talking point for the Ballot Initiative Committee's "Vote Yes for D205 Schools" Campaign.  PTA Council President, Kristi Amendola, will also be there to answer any questions.

Field's endorsement is in line with the IL Bylaws, under Article III, Section 1F, stating one of the purposes of the IL and Field PTA is, "To engage the public in united efforts to secure the physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and social well-being of all children and youth".

If you have a strong opinion either way on Field PTA endorsing the referendum, this is the opportunity for your voice to be represented.  We sincerely appreciate every one who spoke and shared their thoughts last night, and we hope all members of the Field PTA can attend next week's meeting as well.

For more information on the referendum, visit elmhurst205.org and see the updated Master Facility Plan page.  For more information on the BIC's campaign, visit YESforD205@gmail.com.
